I Spy Another Giveaway!
I Spy is one game that I have used while teaching at school and with my own kids. It’s a great transitional activity game, or a way to get a class to regain some focus. I’ve also made I Spy bottles and read many I Spy books with kids over the years. They never tire of playing this game!
Awhile I go, I purchased an I Spy bean bag for my little girls. I wanted a quiet activity that I could have them do in the car or take with on outings (dr. appointments, older kids’ activities etc.). They enjoyed moving the pellets around in the bag to try to expose the various treasures. Little did they know that they were working their finger muscles too!
Well Jaime from Baby Love Blankies has graciously agreed to give one of you your own 5”x5” I Spy Bean Bag from her store! These Itsy Bitsy I Spy Bags are approx 5"X5" and are filled with over 20 fun treasures for your child to find. They are created out of Snuggly Flannel fabric, because it shows less signs of wear and tear. The bags are filled with non-toxic poly pellets so your child will have to shift their way through the pellets to reveal the hidden treasures. This toy is not only educational but fun too and helps with fine motor coordination.

My dad is a germ FREAK so our birthday tradition was always that we couldn't blow out the candles (might get spit on the cake) we had to fan them out with a paper plate.
Ps. I let my kids blow out their candles!!!!

My girls always got to go out with their dad and one special friend for a "grown-up" lunch at a fancy restaurant-they still remember those special days alone with their dad. . . and the carnation dyed 'their' color that was presented at the table :)

After my little girl's 1st b-day party this past year, we made a short trip to a well-known garden to view their Christmas light display. We plan on making this one of our family traditions every year after her party.

A special family tradition that my family has is celebrating our half birthdays. We call it our "happy day" and do things that make that person happy.

We just let the birthday boy chose what special meal they want for dinner and do the typical cake and present thing. loveadealio (at) yahoo (dot) com
I just started a new birthday tradition in our family! As we count down the days to my sons birthday I have a countdown with little pieces of paper that tell him things I like about him such as talents or things he does that I appreciate! He is turning 3 so they are really simple but I hope to continue the tradition and they will get more elaborate with time:)

My son has a summer birthday, but always wanted to celebrate with his classmates at school. We would choose an unbirthday. We tried to choose the last day before Easter and would send in cupcakes decorated with spring decorations since he was in a public school that didn't celebrate Easter since it is considered to be a religious holiday.
We make our kids pancakes on their birthday and place chocolate chips in to make a face.
I just signed up to follow you on email.
We have lots of fun birthday traditions but one is that daddy (by himself) buys the birthday girl a special dress that she sees first thing when she wakes up on her birthday and gets to wear the whole day. My girls are all very young so who knows what they will think of this tradition as they get older...but for now it is their birthday highlight.

The night before we take a 'last picture' with the birthday child holding up fingers showing the current age. The kids think it's funny, even as teenagers. We take the day off school and all meals are birthday kid's choice. They get measured on the doorframe. Cake is *always* homemade dark chocolate with dark chocolate icing from family recipes. Grandpa calls first thing in the morning to sing Happy Birthday, but Grandma doesn't say it until your birth time. Luckily, all were born during normal daylight hours. lol Birthdays are a BIG deal here.
We don't have any really special birthday traditions other than cake and ice cream, and the Birthday girl or boy gets their favorite meal served on an "I am special" red plate.

Birthday traditions: We make a banner and hang it in the front hallway so that it is the first thing the birthday person sees in the morning. Everyone else in the family puts something on the banner and helps decide on the theme. Thank you! sandsmertz@gmail.com

for us it's all about dress ups :) we're a huge fan of dress ups and each year we decide on a different theme - this year the boys are having a dirtgirl/garden party. Oh and we try to make everything outselves from food, decorations and part packs
Well, the tradition for the adults in the house is to try to take vacation with the family before anyone can force us to admit a birthday! :)
For the kids, apple picking with a pile of friends has been the tradition with my oldest since he was five; then we come home and bake an apple pie instead of the traditional birthday cake.
The other two pick something new to do every year, but there's always chocolate cake for breakfast!

Growing up we would celebrate with grandparents. No special parties or anything. Now with 3 kids, I want to be sure their special day is special. We let them pick out what they want to eat for the day, like a restaurant for dinner or pancakes for breakfast. Stuff like that. To make other family members feel special, I have been calling them and having the kids sing. Many look forward to that, and some friends have said it is the best gift they have gotten! Just a few of the things we do on birthday days!
We only throw 2 parties a year, one for the boys and one for the girls...but they are BIG. We have family parties...instead of inviting individual guests (children), we invite their entire families and get everyone in on the fun! One year for my boys' farm party, we had all the dads be escaped cows and the kids had so much fun trying to lasso them with hula-hoops. The one thing that remains the same for every party though, is making a themed pinata together. I love making memories with my children!!

For Birthdays in our Family we celebrate Birthday Week. The birthday person gets a specialized poster expressing their interests. They pick dinner all week and activities. We also do some surprise activities. One present per day is opened, we sing and have cake every night for birthday week.
