Cupcake Mini-Unit from 2Teaching Mommies

One thing I’ve observed over the last couple years is how helpful other bloggers can be. When Madonna and Amber opened their blog, 2 Teaching Mommies, I loved that their mission was to help make tot school/preschool planning easy for other moms. I know that many of you have benefitted from their units, and if you haven’t, I encourage you to check them out! When not blogging at 2 Teaching Mommies, Amber blogs at The Belly of the Whale  and Madonna blogs at A Mommy Talks . Thank you two for being a part of my birthday celebration! ~Maureen
We are so happy to help celebrate Spell Out Loud's 2nd birthday!  We were quite honored to be invited and to join in the fun.  I mean, seriously who doesn’t love a good birthday party? And this birthday is not only celebrating Spell Out Loud, but you, her readers as well.  So, Happy Birthday to YOU!

Now we never show up to birthdays empty handed. So, to help celebrate the big day we’ve made a mini unit just for you, Maureen’s wonderful readers!  Here are couple of printables revolving around that most beloved of all birthday traditions, CAKES! Cupcakes to be specific!   And don’t worry these cupcakes won’t add pounds to your waistline.

You’ll get the following in our mini unit:
  • Cupcake Spelling Puzzle:  An activity to help your child begin to recognize that when letters are combined they form words.
  • Roll and Graph Cupcakes: This activity will introduce your child to data collection and interpretation. Make sure your bars are different colors for easier reading. We use Avery Color Dots, but you can always color in the square with a crayon or marker. Once you’ve completed the graph (first item to # of choice), make sure to ask simple questions.  Such as, “Which color is taller? What item is that?  Which color is shorter? Which item is that? How many times did we give the (item) a sticker?”  Make sure to show them how to use the graph, instead of just counting the stickers.
  • Cupcake Observation:  Bound to be a hit because who doesn’t like eating cake!! This activity will get your child using their senses to make scientific observations.
  • Cupcake Colors: Finally, this mini coloring book will help reinforce or introduce your kiddos to colors.
You can print these out to help celebrate anyone’s birthday, even your own kiddo’s.  If your kiddo has to go to “preschool” on their special day, these might be some activities that will make their day a little more spectacular when they get home!
If you enjoy these printables be sure and stop by our website, 2 Teaching Mommies, to see more lessons and printables that your tots will enjoy!

Happy Birthday Spell Outloud!
From your friends at 2 Teaching Mommies,
