Learning Telephone Numbers Printable

One skill I want my preschooler to know this year is her telephone number. I created a printable activity that serves as a reference sheet for my daughter.

There are 2 versions, 1 with the area code and one without.

I wrote our number in pencil in each of the squares. Next I had my daughter practice dialing by touching the number pad on the sheet. Then I had her cut out the numbers (provided in the download) and glue them in the right square. We have this hanging on our “learning” board so that we can practice it. She can look her sheet and use her pretend phone to dial or practice writing it on the chalkboard. We also sing our phone number:

Just substitute your phone number where all the 7’s are located. If you are not familiar with the song, you can hear it sung at the beginning of the video of  Bear in the Big Blue House.

P is for Pets

This week we did a little pet theme at our house and preschool co-op.  Here are some of the activities we did:

Discussion questions:

Pull out the pet word cards. Talk about the different pets and what they need.

Bring in various stuffed animal pets. Have the children tell what each animal is. Talk about how we take care of the animals. Do they have a pet? What kind of pet would they like? 

Using their stuffed animals, have them create a pet show. 

 After reading some of the stories the girls took turns playing the dog color match game found here.

 Then we colored a stick puppet parrot. (I can't remember the source--will try to find it.)

 Later in the week we talked about how God wants us to care for our pets. I created two pet coloring sheets---one with "God wants us to care for our pets" and one that just says "Pp is for Pets".  Feel free to use them!

One of the activities I wanted to do this year with my almost 4yr. old was to develop a word wall. Well I just don't have the wall space to do that. Carissa at 1+1+1=1 came up with ABC cards that fit in a baseball card sleeve. Since we are using those and already have our notebook set up, I decided to create a couple of themed word cards (I'll be sharing more of them in the next couple of weeks). P is for Pumpkin

This week my preschooler and little tot worked on letter P activities. I will admit that I picked letter P because I already knew what we were covering in our co-op toddler/preschool class. :)

At the beginning of the week we did our letter P cut and paste page, do-a-dot page, and picture cards. Then I really didn't have the energy to do much more than that this week, but I had already planned a bunch of pumpkin activities for our co-op which another mom taught for me. Here's what we did:

First we talked about what a pumpkin was and how it grew. I printed out Life Cycle of a Pumpkin cards from Montessori for Everyone. The kids loved matching up the pictures.

Before class I had printed, cut, and laminated a Christian pumpkin pocket poem from The Scripture Lady. Each pumpkin has a different face and a little poem that goes with it--for example: "The first little pumpkin on the outside looks sad, but he knows that when Jesus lives inside, he's oh so glad."

Then the children drew one of the pumpkin faces from the poem. I picked up die-cut pumpkins at Hobby Lobby.

Then we cut apart a small pumpkin to see what was inside. My girls didn't want to touch the insides :)

We used the seeds to make a version of the Pumpkin Parable Craft from Christian Preschool Printables.



Then we played a Pumpkin shape game and did a couple other Letter P activities from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
