My little girls love Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!My 2 yr. old loves to quote, “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!” in her best parent voice. It makes me smile when she says this. :)

With a little help from a Barrel of Monkeysand Dora Dollhouse Furniture,we recreated the story and practiced counting.

This activity was a hit with the girls!

Guided Questions:

How many monkeys are jumping on the bed? (Count together)
How many fell off? (We put all the hurt monkeys in a pile aka “Dr. office)
How many monkeys are left on the bed? (Count together)
How many monkeys have bumped their heads? (ie. 3 left in the bed and 2 have already hurt their heads)

Extensions:
Check out Mm is for Monkey printables from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Carisa from 1+1+1=1 has a Five Little Monkeys Tot Pack available too.

This is a great way to retell the story. Glad Dora was willing to share her bed. The questions you asked were wonderful.

Thanks for linking to Read.Explore.Learn. I will Stumble this post.
